Linas Leander Newman was born on 21 Apr 1883 in Clermont Co., Ohio.7,8,9He appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Lewis Twp., Brown Co., Ohio, in the household of his parents, Albert August Newman and Martha Anna Harris.4
Linas married Minnie Lee Brose, daughter of Frederick S. Brose and Debra Jane Gardner, on 16 Jun 1904 in Hamilton Co., Ohio, with Rev. Joseph Hawkins officiating.10,11
Linas and Minnie moved to Clermont Co. about 1908, apparently with his parents, or to join them there.
He was a farmer in 1910, working on his father's farm.14
Linas and Minnie appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Ohio Twp., Clermont Co., Ohio, enumerated 21 Apr 1910, living with his parents and his three younger siblings. Their children Fredie, Violet and Hazel were listed as living with them.15
He became a farmer on his own by 1918.16,17 He registered for the draft for World War I on 12 Sep 1918, while living at Moscow, Clermont Co., Ohio, reporting he was employed as a farmer.3
Linas and Minnie appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Washington Twp., Clermont Co., Ohio, enumerated 5 Jan 1920, reporting they owned their home, free of mortgage. Their children Fredie, Violet and Hazel were listed as living with them. They were apparently living near his parents, as they were listed as the fourth preceding household.18
Linas and Minnie appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Monroe Twp., Clermont Co., Ohio, at A. and P. Highway, enumerated 22 Apr 1930, reporting they owned their farm, and owned a radio. Their children Hazel and Anne were listed as living with them, as was Grover C. Willis, brother of her sister Anna's husband.19
Linas and Minnie appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Washington Twp., Clermont Co., Ohio, enumerated 16 Apr 1940, reporting they owned a home valued at $5,000, and that they had lived in the same city in 1935. Their daughter Anne was listed as living with them.20
Linas and Minnie were operators of a gas station by 1940, reporting in 1940 each had worked 60 hours the last week of March, and 52 weeks the prior year, and they earned $900.21
Linas registered for the draft for World War II on 26 Apr 1942, while living at 105 Elm St., Milford, Clermont Co., Ohio, reporting he was employed by Cincinnati Planer Company, in Cincinnati.22
Linas and Minnie appeared on the 1950 Federal Census of Batavia, Clermont Co., Ohio, enumerated 8 May 1950, reporting they lived in a home that was not on a farm.23
Linas died on 1 Oct 1973 in Clark, Darke Co., Ohio, at age 90.12 He was buried in New Harmony Cemetery, New Harmony, Brown Co., Ohio.13
