Narrative:

Henri Pearl Woodard was born on 26 Oct 1869 in Tennessee.6,7,8,9
Her father died on 10 Aug 1869, two months before she was born.15 His will was proved 4 Nov 1869, Shelby Co., Tennessee. The will called for United States bonds to be purchased with the proceeds of his life insurance, with the interest to be paid to her mother for her support and the child's education. When Henri reached age 21, the bonds were to be paid half to the mother and half to the child, unless the mother had remarried, in which case one-third was to go to the mother and two-thirds to the child.16
She appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Memphis, Shelby Co., Tennessee, with her mother, in the household of Ella Garrent. Their relationship, if any, is unknown.17
The first settlement report for her father's estate was filed 18 May 1872, showing receipts of nearly $23,900, including $19,800 from the life insurance policy. Expenses were $2,900, and $15,000 of U.S. bonds had been purchased.18
Henri's mother re-married, 21 Nov 1872 in Shelby Co., Tennessee, to Thomas Hughes Covington.19
Henri appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Jasper Twp., Crittenden Co., Arkansas, enumerated 12 Jun 1880, in the household of a Black couple, C. W. Wooldridge and his wife Jennie, and their infant son. Her mother and her new husband, their 5-year-old daughter and infant son were living nearby, as they appear as the eighth prior household. It appears that Henri had been placed with caretakers.20
Henri married George Willard Cobb, son of Dr. Joshua W. Cobb and Mary Celeste Phelon, on 13 Nov 1895 in Fulton Co., Georgia. Why either of them was in Georgia is unknown.10,11
Henri appeared with George and their son George, on the 1900 Federal Census of Memphis, Shelby Co., Tennessee, in the household of his mother.21
Henri and George appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Memphis, Shelby Co., Tennessee, at 811 Jefferson Ave., enumerated 19 Apr 1910. Their children George and Frances were listed as living with them, as were two lodgers, Fant Howard and Charles Martin. His mother was listed as living in the same building.22
Her husband died on 19 Sep 1915 in Memphis, Shelby Co., Tennessee.23,24
Henri appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Mayfield, Graves Co., Kentucky, in the household of her son George.25
Henri died on 12 May 1949 in Memphis, Shelby Co., Tennessee, at age 79.12,13 She was buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Memphis, Shelby Co., Tennessee.14
