     Francis C. Humphrey was born about 1831 in New York.6,7,8
     He was probably one of the three males age 5 to10 listed in the household of his father, John Humphrey, in the 1840 Federal Census of Cotton, Switzerland Co., Indiana.11
     He appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Cotton Twp., Switzerland Co., Indiana, in the household of his parents, John Humphrey and Clarissa [surname unknown].12
     Francis married Paulina Elizabeth Cobb, daughter of Willard Burr Cobb and Submit S. Garlinghouse, on 30 Jul 1857, with Samuel Pavy offciating.9,10
     He and Paulina, and their children William and John, appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Cotton Twp., Switzerland Co., Indiana, in the household of his parents. He reported real estate valued at $250, and personal estate of $30.13
     Francis registered for the draft for the Civil War, appearing on the register dated in Jun 1863, while living in Oil Twp., Perry Co., Indiana, reporting he was employed as a farmer.
     He was a farm laborer by 1870, and a farmer by 1880, but reported he was suffering from spasms.14,15
     Francis and Paulina appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Cotton Twp., Switzerland Co., Indiana, enumerated 11 Aug 1870, reporting no real or personal estate. Their children William, Ann, Philinda and Ida were listed as living with them.16
     Francis and Paulina appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Oil Twp., Perry Co., Indiana, enumerated 14 Jun 1880. Their children Philinda and Ida were listed as living with them.17
     No death record has been found for either Francis or Paulina. Un-sourced online trees report she died 12 Oct 1897 and he died 27 Apr 1898.
