     Maria Heinricke Dorothe Gleich was born on 2 Mar 1846 in Bönnigheim, Württemberg.6,7,8 She was baptized on 8 Mar 1846 in Evangelische Kirche, Bönnigheim, Württemberg, with Christian Gleich and Dorothe Mezger as witnesses.4
     Maria arrived in New York with her parents, Ernst Johann Christian Gleich and Heinricke Katharina Mezger, on 22 May 1847, aboard the Baltimore, having departed Le Havre, France.11
     She appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Perry Twp., Stark Co., Ohio, in the household of her parents.12
     She moved to Huntington, Huntington Co., Indiana, with her parents before 1860.
     Maria married William Kuhlman, son of Ernst Heinrich Kuhlmann and Anne Marie Elisabeth Fenncker, on 20 Feb 1860 in Huntington Co., Indiana, with Robert Clark, justice of the peace, officiating.9,10
     Maria and William appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Huntington, Huntington Co., Indiana, enumerated 5 Jun 1860, reporting real estate valued at $600 and personal estate of $125. His daughter by his prior marriage, Eliza, was listed as living with them, as was his brother Nathan.13
     Her husband died on 11 Apr 1869 in Huntington, Huntington Co., Indiana.14,15,16
     Maria appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Huntington, Huntington Co., Indiana, enumerated 23 Jun 1870, reporting real estate valued at $800 and personal estate of $100. Her children Amanda, Mary, Hannah and Albert were listed as living with her.17
     No further record of Maria has been found. Neither she nor her three younger children have been found in the 1880 census. Perhaps they were living together and either were not enumerated, or were living outside Huntington Co. No record of her remarriage has been found in Huntington Co.18
