Narrative:

William Kuhlman was born about 1835 in Pennsylvania.6,7
His mother died in 1844 or 1845, when William was about 9 years old.16,17
He moved about 1844 to Wooster, Ohio, with his father, and perhaps with his mother, though it seems more likely she had died in Pennsylvania.18
He moved to Warren Twp., Huntington Co., Indiana, with his father in 1845.19,20,21,22 He appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Huntington Co., Indiana, in the household of his father, Ernst Heinrich Kuhlman.4
He was a plasterer, like his father and his brothers.23,24
William married first Elizabeth J. Downs on 25 Dec 1855 in Huntington Co., Indiana, with Wilson B. Loughridge, district judge, officiating.8
His wife died between 1857 and 1860, apparently, as he re-married in Feb 1860. But no record of her death has been found.25,26
William married second Maria Heinricke Dorothe Gleich, daughter of Ernst Johann Christian Gleich and Heinricke Katharina Mezger, on 20 Feb 1860 in Huntington Co., Indiana, with Robert Clark, justice of the peace, officiating.9,10
William and Maria appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Huntington, Huntington Co., Indiana, enumerated 5 Jun 1860, reporting real estate valued at $600 and personal estate of $125. His daughter by his prior marriage, Eliza, was listed as living with them, as was his brother Nathan.2
William died on 11 Apr 1869, at his home, Huntington, Huntington Co., Indiana.11,12,13 He was buried on 13 Apr 1869 in St. Peter's Reformed Cemetery, Huntington, Huntington Co., Indiana.14,15

It appears Eliza J. died some time after 1860, as she has not been found in the 1870 census, and there is no record of her marriage in Huntington Co.
