     Elizabeth Blackmore was born in Dec 1836 in Pennsylvania.6,7,8
     She appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Greene Twp., Beaver Co., Pennsylvania, in the household of her mother, Mary Laughlin.15
     Elizabeth moved to Kansas in 1861 with her sister Sarah and her husband, John Cross.3
     Elizabeth married Dr. John Bacon Britton, son of Isham H. Britton and Mary W. Toot, on 28 Jan 1864 in Bourbon Co., Kansas.9,10,11
     Elizabeth and John appeared on the 1865 State Census of Timberhill Twp., Bourbon Co., Kansas. Their son Walter was listed as living with them, as was Scott Bloomfield, age 15, relationship unknown.16
     Elizabeth and John moved to the farm about three-quarters of a mile east of Mapleton, where he lived the rest of his life.17
     Elizabeth and John appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Timberhill Twp., Bourbon Co., Kansas, enumerated 26 Aug 1870, reporting real estate valued at $3,500 and personal estate of $600. Their children Walter, Earnest and Lester were listed as living with them, as were two farm laborers, John Caller, age 21, and Thompson Rose, age 16.18
     Elizabeth and John appeared on the 1875 State Census of Timberhill Twp., Bourbon Co., Kansas, reporting real estate valued at $911 and personal property of $534. Their children Walter, Earnest, Lester, Pomeroy and May were listed as living with them, as were William Carter, age 19, and Samuel Shemker, age 22. They may have been farm hands but no occupations were listed.19
     Elizabeth and John appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Timberhill Twp., Bourbon Co., Kansas, enumerated 4 Jun 1880. Their children Walter, Earnest, Lester, Pomeroy and May were listed as living with them.20
     Her husband died on 6 Aug 1884 in Mapleton, Kansas.21,22
     Elizabeth appeared on the 1885 State Census of Timberhill Twp., Bourbon Co., Kansas. Her children Lester and Roy were listed as living with her.23
     She took over operation of the family farm after the death of her husband, apparently retiring by 1900.24,25,26

     Elizabeth died on 2 Mar 1916 at age 79.12,13 She was buried in Mapleton Cemetery, Mapleton, Bourbon Co., Kansas.14
