Narrative:

Samuel T. Cobb was born about 1804 in South Carolina.4
He moved with his parents about 1806 to Livingston Co., Kentucky, which became Caldwell Co. in May 1809. He was probably one of the three males under age 10 listed in the household of his father, Josiah Cobb, in the 1810 Federal Census of Caldwell Co., Kentucky.7
Samuel married Nancy H. [surname unknown] on 2 Sep 1824 in Caldwell Co., Kentucky, with Rev. Jame Ruckerson officiating.5,1,6
Samuel and his brothers Humphrey, Hezekiah, and Theron all seem to have moved to Shelby Co., Tennessee, some time after 1810, and at least some of them before 1825. It seems likely that they did not move together, but some followed others at different times.
Samuel appeared on the 1830 Federal Census of Shelby Co., Tennessee, with a household consisting of two males under age 5 (unknown), one age 15 to 20 (unknown), and two age 20 to 30 (himself and another), one female under age 5 (unknown), one age 20 to 30 (wife Nancy), and one male slave, age 36 to 55.8
Samuel and Nancy moved to Mississippi about 1835.
On 14 Dec 1838 Samuel and his siblings sold the 200-acre parcel in Caldwell Co., Kentucky, that they had inherited from their father.1
Samuel appeared on the 1840 Federal Census of DeSoto Co., Mississippi, with a household consisting of one male under age 5 (son Richard), one age 5 to 10 (George), one age 10 to 15 (unknown), one age 15 to 20 (unknown), and one age 30 to 40 (himself), one female under age 5 (unknown), one age 5 to 10 (daughter Elvira), one age 20 to 30 (unknown), and one age 30 to 40 (wife Nancy.)9
Samuel and Nancy appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of DeSoto Co., Mississippi, enumerated 3 Sep 1850, reporting real estate valued ate $1,600. Their children Elvira, George, Richard, Emeline, Jessie and Cora were listed as living with them.2
     He was a farmer.10,2

Children:
Children with Nancy H. [surname unknown]

With the number unidentified children in the 1830 and 1840 censuses, it seems certain that there were other children of Samuel and Nancy.
