Narrative:

Mathew Lyon Gracey was born on 13 Dec 1809 in Caldwell Co., Kentucky.7,8,9
He was probably the male age 10 to 16 listed in the household of his father, George Gracey, in the 1820 Federal Census of Eddyville, Caldwell Co., Kentucky.15
Mathew married Maria A. Tilford, daughter of John Tilford and Elizabeth Crumbaugh, on 6 May 1830 in Caldwell Co., Kentucky.10,11,12
Mathew appeared on the 1830 Federal Census of Eddyville, Caldwell Co., Kentucky, with a household consisting of one white male between age 15 and 20 (himself) and one white female in the same age bracket (wife Maria.)16
Mathew appeared on the 1840 Federal Census of Caldwell Co., Kentucky, with a household consisting of one white male under age 5 (son William), two between 5 and 10 (George and Francis), and one between 20 and 30 (himself), and two females under 5 (daughters Mary and Lucy), one between 10 and 15 (seems too old to be their daughter, perhaps a servant), and one between 20 and 30 (wife Maria.)17
     Mathew was a merchant.18,19
His wife died on 16 Nov 1847.7,9,20
Mathew bought lot no. 71 in Eddyville from John Hallick on 4 Sep 1848, for $205.21
Mathew appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of District No. 1, Caldwell Co., Kentucky, enumerated 14 Sep 1850, reporting $3,100 in real estate, and four slaves, two adults and two children. His children George, Francis, William, Mary, Lucy, Ellen, Maria, Elizabeth and Matthew were listed as living with him, as was Elizabeth Archer, age 63, from Maryland, relationship unknown. She reported real estate valued at $500 and a male and female slave. They apparently lived near his sister Martha, as she and her children are listed as the next household.19,22
Mathew died on 2 Jan 1850 at age 40, according to transcriptions from his tombstone, but since he appears in the Jun 1850 census, it appears that either the month or year are wrong.7,9,13 He was buried in Riverview Cemetery, Eddyville, Kentucky.14

Many other records in the county for this period show the ceremony the same day as the license, so I am assuming that in this case.
