Philip Kaufman was born about 1838 in Baden.4,5,6Philip and Rachel Melvina Fagin secured a marriage license on 29 Aug 1862 in Clermont Co., Ohio, but either did not get married then or the marriage was not properly recorded. They obtained a new license and were married four years later.2,13 Philip married Rachel on 25 Jan 1866 in Clermont Co., Ohio, with Rev. Edward McHugh officiating.7,8,9
Philip and Rachel appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Ohio Twp., Clermont Co., Ohio, enumerated 27 Jun 1870, reporting no real estate but $200 in personal estate. Their children Kate and Alice were listed as living with them.1
Philip and Rachel appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Fairbury, Jefferson Co., Nebraska, enumerated 8 Jun 1880. Their children Kate, Alice, Jessee, John and Emma were listed as living with them.3
He was a farmer in 1870, and a well digger by 1880.1,3
Philip died on 3 Mar 1895.10,11 He was buried in Greenwood Cemetery, York, Nebraska.12
