     Nicholas Simons was born on 21 Jun 1824 in Kurfuerstentum Hessen.5,6,7
     Nicholas married Ann [surname unknown] about 1850.8,9,10
     Nicholas and Ann appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Perry Twp., Snyder Co., Pennsylvania, enumerated 10 Jul 1860, reporting real estate valued at $300. Their children John and Edward were listed as living with them.1
     Nicholas joined the 35th Infantry Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers, Company B, on 6 May 1861 at Mt. Pleasant Mills, Snyder Co., Pennsylvania. He enlisted for a term of three years, as a private. He was discharged from that unit 24 Dec 1863 when he was transferred to the 191th Infantry Regiment, Company F. That regiment was organized in the field from veterans whose terms had not expired when their units mustered out. He was mustered into the 191th the next day, at Nokesville, Virginia. He was mustered out with the company 28 Jun 1865.11
     Nicholas and Ann appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of West Beaver Twp., Snyder Co., Pennsylvania, enumerated 14 Jul 1870. Their children Edward and Ida were listed as living with them.2
     Nicholas and Ann appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Turbotville, Northumberland Co., Pennsylvania, enumerated 11 Jun 1880. Their son Edward and his wife were apparently living close by, as they are listed next.3
     Nicholas and Ann appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Milton, Northumberland Co., Pennsylvania, at 614 South Front St., enumerated 15 Jun 1900, reporting they owned their home, which was mortgaged. Their daughter Ida was listed as living with them, as was Anna, daughter of their son John.12
     He was a day laborer in 1860, a huckster in 1870 and laborer in 1880.13,14,15 He became a mill wright by 1900.16,17
     His wife died before 1907.18
     Nicholas died on 29 Sep 1907 in Alliance, Northampton Co., Pennsylvania, at age 83.4 He was buried on 2 Oct 1907 in Milton, Pennsylvania.4
