     Isaiah Stewart was born on 23 Dec 1858 in Willow Hill Twp., Jasper Co., Indiana.7,8,9
     He appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Willow Hill Twp., Jasper Co., Illinois, in the household of his parents, James Stewart and Elizabeth Jones.18 He appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Willow Hill Twp., Jasper Co., Illinois, in the household of his parents.19
     His father died on 9 Dec 1875, when Isaiah was 16 years old.20
     He was a miller, like his father by 1880.21 He appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of New Liberty, Jasper Co., Illinois, in the household of his mother and Sanford C. Stewart, his step-father and brother of his late father.22
     Isaiah married first Sophronia E. Terhune, daughter of James B. Terhune and Martha M. Cobb, and younger brother of the man her younger sister Mary would marry four years later, on 11 Oct 1883 in Jasper Co., Illinois.2,10,11
     Isaiah served in a variety of public roles over the years. He was postmaster of Hunt City, deputy circuit clerk of Jasper Co., and alderman of Newton. While he was collector of Willow Hill Twp. the safe in the Stewart Brothers store was blown open, and $1,800 in township funds was stolen. He made good the loss from his own funds.23,24
     Isaiah and Sophronia adopted Nora Inez Sanders before 1900, apparently informally as she continued to be known by her birth name.25,26,27
     Isaiah and Sophronia appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Newton, Jasper Co., Illinois, at 224 Morgan St., enumerated 1 Jun 1900, reporting they owned their home, free of mortgage. Their daughter Nora was listed as living with them.28
     His wife died on 27 Mar 1901.29
     Isaiah married second Martha Cobb, daughter of Dyar Cobb and Almyra Tremain and cousin of his first wife, on 16 Apr 1902 in Greensburg, Indiana, with Rev. H. W. Davis officiating.12,13
     He was engaged in real estate by the time of his second marriage, and remained a director of the Jasper County National Loan and Building Association until his death. He served as the association's secretary for more than a quarter century.30,23,31
     Isaiah and Martha appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Newton, Jasper Co., Illinois, on Morgan St., enumerated 18 Apr 1910, reporting they owned their home, free of mortgage.4
     He was a dry goods merchant by 1920. He had stores in Willow Hill, Hunt City, Palestine, and Toledo and became one of the leading merchants in Newton. He retired in 1930.32,33,23
     Isaiah and Martha appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Newton, Jasper Co., Illinois, enumerated 6 Jan 1920, reporting they owned their home, free of mortgage.34
     Isaiah and Martha appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Newton, Jasper Co., Illinois, at 501 Lafayette St., enumerated 8 Apr 1930, reporting they owned a home valued at $5,000, and owned a radio.35
     His wife died on 10 Aug 1933 in Newton, Jasper Co., Illinois.36
     Isaiah died on 25 Jan 1936 in Effingham, Effingham Co., Illinois, at age 77.14,15,9 He was buried on 27 Jan 1936 in Mound Cemetery, Hunt City, Jasper Co., Illinois.16,17

Nora was the daughter of Thomas A. Sanders and Lousia Fore, according to un-sourced online trees. They were married 16 Jul 1885 and apparently divorced and married others not long after Nora's birth.38
