     Mary Ruth Terhune was born in Aug 1864 in Illinois.9,10,11
     She generally used her middle name, Ruth, even in some offical records.1,3,16
     Mary was probably one of the four females under age 10 listed in the household of her father, James B. Terhune, on the 1865 State Census of Willow Hill, Jasper Co., Illinois.17 She appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Willow Hill, Jasper Co., Illinois, in the household of her parents, James B. Terhune and Martha M. Cobb.18
     She moved to Indiana with her parents between 1870 and 1880.7 She appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Jackson Twp., Jackson Co., Indiana, in the household of her parents.7
     Mary married Henry Stewart, son of James Stewart and Elizabeth Jones, and younger brother of the man her sister Sophronia had married four years before, on 15 May 1887 in Jasper Co., Illinois.12,13
     Mary and Henry appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Liberty, Jasper Co., Illinois, enumerated 4 Jun 1900, reporting they rented their home.19
     Mary and Henry appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Willow Hill, Jasper Co., Illinois, enumerated 15 Apr 1910, reporting they owned their home, free of mortgage.20
     Mary and Henry appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Willow Hill, Jasper Co., Illinois, enumerated 5 Jan 1920, reporting they owned their home, which was mortgaged.21
     Mary and Henry appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Willow Hill, Jasper Co., Illinois, enumerated 12 Apr 1930, reporting they owned a home valued at $1,000, and did not own a radio. His widowed brother Orlando was listed as living with them.22
     Mary and Henry were operating a restaurant by 1930. She had retired by 1930, but he continued.23,24,25

     Mary died in 1948.14 She was buried in Mound Cemetery, Hunt City, Jasper Co., Illinois.15
