     Carlos Fredrick Barber was born on 21 Nov 1843 in Castleton, Vermont.7,8,9
     He appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Castleton, Rutland Co., Vermont, in the household of his parents, Chauncey Langdon Barber and Lorinda Reed.16 He appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Castleton, Rutland Co., Vermont, in the household of his parents.17
     Carlos married Eveline Remington, daughter of John Henry Remington and Betsey Mariah Stevens, on 21 Nov 1866 in Castleton, Vermont, with Rev. Lewis Francis officiating.10,11,12
     Carlos and Eveline appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Castleton, Rutland Co., Vermont, enumerated 27 Jul 1870, reporting no real estate but personal estate of $400. Their daughter Frances was listed as living with them.18
     He was a farm laborer in 1870, and a farmer in his own right by 1880.19,20,21,22,23,24
     Carlos and Eveline appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Rutland, Rutland Co., Vermont, on Post Street, enumerated 12 Jun 1880. Their children Frances, Luella and Stella were listed as living with them, as was William Taylor, a 13-year-old Black farm laborer.25
     Carlos and Eveline's son Chauncey, under two years old, was killed by a passenger train on the farm crossing between the family's dwelling and barns on 17 May 1892.26,27
     Carlos and Eveline appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Castleton, Rutland Co., Vermont, enumerated 9 Jun 1900, reporting they rented their farm. Their daughter Emma was listed as living with them, as was his father.6
     Carlos and Eveline appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Poultney, Rutland Co., Vermont, on Gorhamtown Rd., enumerated 23 Apr 1910, reporting they owned their farm, free of mortgage. Their married daughter Grace was listed as living with them.28
     Carlos and Eveline appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Poultney, Rutland Co., Vermont, enumerated 8 Jan 1920, reporting they owned their home, free of mortgage. Their grandson John Cross, son of their daughter Emma, was listed as living with them, as was William Couch, a 70-years-old laborer.29
     Carlos died on 19 Feb 1923, at the home of his daughter Stella, Castleton, Vermont, at age 79.13,14 He was buried in Hillside Cemetery, Castleton, Rutland Co., Vermont.15
