     Rachel Fitch Cobb was born on 1 Jan 1816 in Pawlet, Vermont.7,8,9,10
     She was probably one of the three females under age 10 listed in the household of her father, Joshua D. Cobb, in the 1820 Federal Census of Pawlet, Rutland Co., Vermont.17 She was probably one of the two females age 15 to 20 listed in the household of her father in the 1830 Federal Census of Pawlet, Rutland Co., Vermont.18 She was probably the female age 20 to 30 listed in the household of her father in the 1840 Federal Census of Pawlet, Rutland Co., Vermont.19
     She was a teacher before her marriage.6
     Rachel married Abraham Sheldon Edgerton, son of Jacob Edgerton and Hannah Sheldon, and her father's first cousin, on 12 Jan 1843 in Pawlet, Rutland Co., Vermont.11,12,13
     Rachel and Abraham moved to Wisconsin in 1846, spending their first year at Lake Geneva, where her brother Robert had already settled.20,21,22 Rachel and Abraham moved to Lima, Rock Co., in 1847, and settled on a farm there, accompanied by her father.23,24,25,26
     Rachel and Abraham appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Lima, Rock Co., Wisconsin, enumerated 20 Aug 1850, reporting real estate valued at $2,000. Her father and her sister Mary were apparently living close by as they were listed as the preceding household.27
     Rachel and Abraham appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Lima, Rock Co., Wisconsin, enumerated 5 Jun 1860, reporting real estate valued at $6,600 and personal estate of $1,800. Her father and her sister Mary were listed as living with them, as was Charles Fracy, age 21, possibly a hired hand.28
     Her husband died on 23 Feb 1864 in Lima, Rock Co., Wisconsin.29,12
     Her sister Marly's husband bought the farm that had been operated by her father and her late husband, and Rachel then lived with them. She was an invalid for nearly the last 20 years of her life.30 She appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Lima, Rock Co., Wisconsin, in the household of her sister Mary and her husband, Henry J. Wilkinson.31 Rachel appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Lima, Rock Co., Wisconsin, in the household of her sister Mary and her husband.32
     Rachel moved to Whitewater with her sister Mary and her husband in 1883.33,34,35
     Rachel died on 31 Mar 1890 in Whitewater, Walworth Co., Wisconsin, at age 74, at the home of her sister Mary.14,15 She was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, Whitewater, Wisconsin.16
