Narrative:

     Robert Cobb was born in May 1825 in Pawlet, Vermont.5,6,7
     He was probably the male under age 5 to 10 listed in the household of his father, Joshua D. Cobb, in the 1830 Federal Census of Pawlet, Rutland Co., Vermont.12 He was probably one of the two males age 15 to 20 listed in the household of his father in the 1840 Federal Census of Pawlet, Rutland Co., Vermont.13
     Robert moved to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, in 1845 and lived there and in Blooomfield until his death.14,15
     Robert married Sally Hulett, daughter of Daniel Hulett Jr. and Betsey Woodworth, on 13 Apr 1847 in Pawlet, Vermont, with Rev. Elijah H. Bonney officating.8,9
     On 1 Aug 1849 Robert was granted a patent for 80 acres of land in Walworth Co., Wisconsin, under the Cash Entry Act of April 24,1820. The parcel is located about three miles south of Lake Geneva.16 On 1 Mar 1850 Robert was granted a patent for an additional 80 acres of land in Walworth Co., Wisconsin, under the same act, in two separate grants. These parcels were immediately north of his first grant.17,18
     He was a farmer, reporting himself as retired by 1870, but apparently actively farming again by 1880. He later reported as having large farming interests at his home near Lake Geneva, whether that included more than the three known grants is not clear. He was also reported to have farming interests in Iowa but no details are known.1,2,19,20,21
     Robert and Sally appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Bloomfield, Walworth Co., Wisconsin, enumerated 20 Oct 1850, reporting real estate valued at $4,000. Their daughter Ellen was listed as living with them, as was John Kelly, a 36-year-old Irish laborer.1 They appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Bloomfield, Walworth Co., Wisconsin, enumerated 19 Jun 1860, reporting real estate valued at $6,800 and personal estate of $2,000. Their daughter Ellen was listed as living with them.2
     Robert registered for the draft for the Civil War, appearing on the register dated in Jun 1863, while living in Bloomfield, Wisconsin, reporting he was employed as a farmer.22
     Robert and Sally appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Geneva, Walworth Co., Wisconsin, enumerated 30 Jun 1870, reporting real estate valued at $14,000 and personal estate of $3,400. Their children Ellen and Harry were listed as living with them.23 They appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Geneva, Walworth Co., Wisconsin, enumerated 11 Jun 1880. Their son Harry was listed as living with them.24
     In 1900 he reported his occupation as capitalist.25 He served as village trustee, and was a director of the First National Bank at the time of his death.3
     Robert and Sally appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Lake Geneva, Walworth Co., Wisconsin, enumerated 4 Jun 1900, reporting that they owned their home, free of mortgage.25
     Robert died on 14 Aug 1900 in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, at age 75, at his home.10,11
