Narrative:

Malcolm Rivers McNeill was born on 2 Jun 1887 in Chicago, Illinois.10,11,12
His mother died on 19 Oct 1896, when Malcolm was 9 years old.16,17,18
He appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Evanston, Cook Co., Illinois, in the household of his father, Rivers McNeill, and step-mother, Ella Rebecca de Hart.4
Malcolm was named executor and an heir in the will of his father, dated 28 Mar 1910 in Evanston, Cook Co., Illinois, named with his step-mother and sister Cherrill to serve as joing executors. He was to receive his father's diamond ring, and was to serve as trustee of the ground rents from a lot in Chicago until his step-mothers death. He was also to receive an equal share of all his father's property.6
Malcolm appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Evanston, Cook Co., Illinois, in the household of his father and step-mother.5
He was a real estate man, presumably working in his father's business in 1910.19
Malcolm appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Evanston, Cook Co., Illinois, in the household of Ella Rebecca de Hart, his step-mother.20
Malcolm appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Evanston, Cook Co., Illinois, at 1313 Chicago Ave., enumerated 7 Apr 1930, one of three roomers in the home of George A. Townsend and his family.21
He was a founder and vice president of Illinois Lock Co., at 800 S. Ada St., Chicago. He was associated with that company by 1927, but it seems that was not his full focus at that time. In 1930 he reported his occupation as a manager in real estate. In 1940 he reported his occupation as manager in manufacturing, and said he had worked 42 hours the last week of March, and 52 weeks the prior year, earning over $5,000 in 800 S. Ada St., Chicago.22,23,24,25,26 The company relocated to Wheeling, Illinois, in 1960, just after Malcolm's death. It was purchased by The Eastern Company in 1965 but still operates as the Illinois Lock Company.27
Malcolm appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Evanston, Cook Co., Illinois, at 1311 Chicago Ave., enumerated 8 Apr 1940, reporting he rented his apartment, in a building with 30 other units, for $60 per month.28
Malcolm registered for the draft for World War II on 27 Apr 1942, while living at 1311 Chicago Ave., Evanston, Cook Co., Illinois, reporting he was employed by Illinois Lock Company, in Chicago.2
Malcolm died on 5 Dec 1959 in 1311 Chicago Ave., Evanston, Cook Co., Illinois, at age 72, found dead in his apartment.13,12,14 He was buried on 10 Dec 1959 in Graceland Cemetery, Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois, in his father's lot.15
