Cyrena Lee Deams was born on 17 Jul 1853 in Mount Pleasant, Ohio.7,8,9She appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Colerain Twp., Hamilton Co., Ohio, in the household of her parents, David Nelson Deams and Susanna Thurston.18
She moved to Illinois with her parents by 1870. She appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Willow Hill Twp., Jasper Co., Illinois, in the household of her parents.19
Cyrena married first Phillip A. Terhune, son of James B. Terhune and Martha M. Cobb, on 11 Jan 1872 in Jasper Co., Illinois, with Rev. L. W. P. Gilbert offciating.10,11,12
Cyrena and Phillip appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of New Liberty, Jasper Co., Illinois, enumerated 21 Jun 1880. Their children Guy and James were listed as living with them.20
Cyrena and Phillip moved to Edwards Co., Illinois, by 1900. They appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Bone Gap, Edwards Co., Illinois, enumerated 19 Jun 1900, reporting that the family owned its home, which was mortgaged. Their children Winnie and Mayme were listed as living with them.21
Her husband died on 12 Feb 1905.22,23

Cyrena married second Robert E. Leeper, son of Jesse Leeper and Sarah [surname unknown], on 20 Apr 1911 in Quincy, Adams Co., Illinois, with Lyman McCarl, county judge, offciating.13
Her second husband died on 10 Jan 1915 in Columbus, Adams Co., Illinois.25
Cyrena moved to Peoria after the death of her second husband. She appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Peoria, Peoria Co., Illinois, in the household of her daughter Winnie and her daughter Alma. There were also four lodgers listed in the household, three men, all salesmen, and a woman who was a teacher. Winnie's husband was living in Center Twp., Kansas, working as an oil field contractor.26,27
Cyrena appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Peoria, Peoria Co., Illinois, in the household of her daughter Winnie, who was now divorced.28
Cyrena died on 2 Jul 1931, at her home, 518 Hamilton Blvd., Peoria, Peoria Co., Illinois, at age 77.14,15 She was buried on 5 Jul 1931 in Mound Cemetery, Hunt City, Jasper Co., Illinois.16,17
