     Sarah Virginia Walker was born on 31 Oct 1844 in Monroe Co., Mississippi.7,8,9
     She seems to have only used her middle name, Virginia, throughout her life.2,3,18
     She appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Monroe Co., Mississippi, in the household of her parents, John Allen Walker and Mary Boone Grimes.19,20
     Her mother died on 28 Aug 1858, when Virginia was 13 years old.21,22 She appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Monroe Co., Mississippi, in the household of her father.23,24
     Sarah married Maj. Robert H. Cobb, son of Robert Livingston Cobb and Cornelia Barbour Mims, on 3 Aug 1865 in Monroe Co., Mississippi.10,11,12
     Robert and Virginia lived in Loohatan, a train stop a mile south of Muldon, Monroe Co., Mississippi for several years after their marriage. At least part of that time they lived at her parent's mansion, where he worked to reorganize the interrupted plantation life at the vast Walker estates. Their first three children were born in Mississippi.25,26,27,28,29
     About 1870 they and their three young children moved to his home state, Kentucky, settling with his parents in Paducah. They appeared with their children Robert, Virginia and Cornelia on the 1870 Federal Census of Paducah, McCracken Co., Kentucky, in the household of his parents, Robert Livingston Cobb and Cornelia Barbour Mims.30
     Virginia was named an heir in the will of her father, dated 8 Jun 1871 in Monroe Co., Mississippi, to receive an equal share with her sisters Louisa and Susanah of all his land in Phillip Co., Arkansas, and all his stock in the Mobile and Ohio Rail Road and the New Orleans Jackson and Great Northern Rail Road.6 She received a distribution of $2,900 from the estate as reported in the final settlement report for the estate, which was filed 7 Mar 1878. This did not include her one-third share of the 3,700 acres of land in Arkansas and the rail road shares.31
     Virginia and Robert appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Paducah, McCracken Co., Kentucky, at Broadway St., enumerated 1 Jun 1880. Their children Robert, Virginia, Cornelia, Greta, Ethel and Percy were listed as living with them.32
     Virginia and Robert moved their family to Wichita Falls, Texas, then a frontier village, in 1884.33 They appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Wichita Falls, Wichita Co., Texas, enumerated 14 Jun 1900, reporting that the family was renting its home. Their children Robert, Virginia, Greta, Ethel and Percy were listed as living with them, as were Richard Hyde, a farmer, and his wife Sarah who are listed as boarders.34
     Virginia and Robert moved to Houston for a period, before returning to Wichita Falls. They appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Houston, Harris Co., Texas, in the household of their daughter Greta and her husband, Robert Donaldson Thorburn.35
     Her husband died on 20 Jul 1914 in Wichita Falls, Texas.36,15,37
     Virginia applied for an indigent pension on 28 Jul 1914, in Wichita Co., Texas, based on her husband's military service under a 7 Apr 1913 act of the Texas legislature. As required she certified that she had not remarried since his death; had been a resident of the state prior to 1 Jan 1900; had no income over $300 per year; had no property over $1,000 in value; nor was receiving aid from another state, or the Federal government. Two witnesses swore that she had not remarried and had been a resident since before 1900, and the county assessor certified that she had a homestead valued at $1,000 and no other property. Her pension was approved 1 Jun 1916, effective 1 Sep 1914.38
     She appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Wichita Falls, Wichita Co., Texas, at 2110 10th St., enumerated 3 Jan 1920. Her children Ethel and Percy were listed as living with her.39 She was shown as a music teacher.40
     Sarah Virginia died on 12 Jul 1927 in Wichita Falls, Wichita Co., Texas, at age 82.13,14,15 She was buried on 13 Jul 1927 in Riverside Cemetery, Wichita Falls, Wichita Co., Texas.16,17
