     He appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Manchester Twp., Adams Co., Ohio, in the household of his parents, Rufus M. Cox and Jean Matthews.4
     Neither Charles nor his parents have been found in the 1930 census.
     Charles married first Margaret Louise Fenker, daughter of Clement Meade Fenker and Margaret Viola Thompson, in Aug 1939 in Hamilton Co., Ohio.9,10,11
     Charles and Margaret appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, at 1328 Manss Ave., enumerated 11 Apr 1940, reporting they rented their home, for $32.50 per month, and that he had lived in Manchester, Ohio in 1935, and she had lived in Cincinnati. Maurice Barnes, age 24, was also listed in the household, identified as a cousin.2
     He was a machine tool inspector, reporting in 1940 he had worked 55 hours the last week of March, and 52 weeks the prior year, earning $720.20 He registered for the draft for World War II on 16 Oct 1940, while living at 280 Southern Ave., Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, reporting he was employed by Lodge and Shipley Machine Tool Co. in Cincinnati.3
     Margaret was granted a divorce from Charles 17 Oct 1944, in Hamilton Co., Ohio, on grounds of neglect.12,13,14
     Charles was drafted in the U.S. Army as a private, reporting 12 Jul 1945 to Fort Hayes, Columbus, Ohio.21
     Charles married second Ellen Louise Zeh, daughter of Theodore S. Zeh and Gertrude T. Baur, in Jun 1947 in Alameda Co., California.15,16,17
