Mary H. Pruetzel was born on 13 Dec 1871 in St. Louis, Missouri.6,7,8 She appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Carondelet Twp., St. Louis Co., Missouri, in the household of her parents, Charles Pruetzel and Marie Hertel.14Mary married Benjamin F. Barkhau, son of William Barkhau, about 1897.9,10,11

Their children Bernhard and Emma were listed as living with them, Their daughter, Caroline, and her husband and daugther, apparently lived close by as they are listed in the following household.17
Mary died on 10 Jan 1932 on Foreman Ave., Carondelet Twp., St. Louis Co., Missouri, at age 60.6,12 She was buried on 13 Jan 1932 in Sunset Burial Park, Affton, Missouri.13
