     Martha Jane Shade was born in 1845 in Berkeley Co., Virginia.6,7,8
     She appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Frederick Co., Virginia, in the household of her parents, Jacob Shade and Elizabeth [surname unknown].14 She appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Morgan Co., Virginia, in the household of her parents.15
     Martha married George William Crane, son of Willis Crane and Mary Ann Rinehart, on 20 Nov 1866 in Morgan Co., West Virginia, with John K. Nelson officiating.9,10,11
     Martha and George appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Gainsborough Twp., Frederick Co., Virginia, enumerated 21 Sep 1870, reporting real estate valued at $350 and personal estate of $150. Their daughter Mary was listed as living with them.16
     Martha and George appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Gainesborough Twp., Frederick Co., Virginia, enumerated 21 Jun 1880. Their children Mary, John, Pleasent, George and Lilie were listed as living with them.17
     Martha and George moved to Springfield, Ohio, in Mar 1886.18,19
     Martha died on 4 Sep 1887.12 She was buried on 6 Sep 1887 in Ferncliff Cemetery.13
