     Mary C. Crane was born on 8 May 1869 in Bunker Hill, Virginia.8,9,10,11
     She appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Gainsborough Twp., Frederick Co., Virginia, in the household of her parents, George William Crane and Martha Jane Shade.18 She appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Gainesborough Twp., Frederick Co., Virginia, in the household of her parents.5
     She moved to Springfield, Ohio, with her parents in Mar 1886.19,20
     Her mother died on 4 Sep 1887, when Mary was 18 years old.21
     At some point after moving to Ohio, she changed her given name Hattie, and was after that known as Hattie M., even in legal documents.3,22,23
     Hattie married Henry C. Fenker, son of Johann Hinrich Wilhelm Fennker and Johanna Louise Baum, on 11 Jun 1889 in Hamilton Co., Ohio, with Rev. Howard Henderson, Methodist Episcopal minister, officiating.12,13
     Hattie and Henry appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Xenia Twp., Greene Co., Ohio, enumerated 12 Jun 1900, living on a farm.24
