Johanna Marie Doering was born on 19 Feb 1884 in Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio.8,9,10 She was baptized on 16 Mar 1884 in Third Protestant Church, Cincinnati, Ohio.15Her father died on 8 Aug 1885, when Johanna was 1 year old.16,17
She appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Bullittsville, Boone Co., Kentucky, in the household of her mother and stepfather, William Frederick Siekman.18
Johanna married Luther Cave Scothorn, son of Charles Dimmick Scothorn and Sallie Louise Cave, on 21 Sep 1904 in Florence, Boone Co., Kentucky, at the Lutheran parsonage, with Rev. S. E. Slate officiating.11,12
