     Emma Frey was born on 9 Apr 1848 in Geneva, Switzerland.6,7,8
     Emma immigrated to the United States about 1856, about the time her father, Johann Michael Frey, remarried, suggesting he had sent for her then. It appears her mother had died in Europe before that, but no record of her death has been found.16,17
     Emma appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Covington, Kenton Co., Kentucky, in the household of her father and stepmother, Christina Baum.18
     Emma married John Gottlieb Deiss, son of Jonas Deiß and Elizabeth Catharina Schütz, on 17 Nov 1867 in Covington, Kenton Co., Kentucky, with the consent of her father since she was under age.9,10,11
     Emma and John appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Covington, Kenton Co., Kentucky, enumerated 18 Jun 1870, living in the same building as his parents. Their daughter Emma was listed as living with them.19
     Emma was named an heir in the will of her father dated 7 May 1877 in Covington, Kentucky, in which he left her his Gustav Doré Picture Bible, and, provided she would pay her step-mother and annuity of $120 per year, $2,000.20
     Emma and John appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Covington, Kenton Co., Kentucky, at 813 Willard St., enumerated 8 Jun 1880. Their children Emma, John, Catherine, Caroline, Elizabeth and Charles were listed as living with them.21
     Her husband died on 14 Aug 1890 in Covington, Kentucky.22,23
     Emma appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Covington, Kenton Co., Kentucky, at 1543 Banklick, enumerated 11 Jun 1900, reporting she rented her home. Her children Emma, John, Elizabeth and Charles were listed as living with her.24
     Emma appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Covington, Kenton Co., Kentucky, at 103 West 15th St., enumerated 25 Apr 1910, reporting she owned her home, which was mortgaged. Her children John and Elizabeth were listed as living with her, as were her widowed daughter, Catherine, and her 10-year-old son Arthur Faulwetter.25
     Emma died on 20 Jun 1913 in Covington, Kenton Co., Kentucky, at age 65.12,13 She was buried on 23 Jun 1913 in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell, Kenton Co., Kentucky.14,15
