Emma C. Cobb was born about 15 Aug 1841 in Indiana.6,7,8Her father died on 6 Sep 1849, when Emma was 8 years old.14,15
She appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Greensburg, Decatur Co., Indiana, in the household of her mother, Submit S. Garlinghouse.16
Emma married John J. Morton on 11 Apr 1861 in Ripley Co., Indiana.9,10,11
Emma and John appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Jackson Twp., Decatur Co., Indiana, enumerated 20 Jun 1870, reporting real estate valued at $1,200 and personal estate of $800. Their children James, Anna and Willard were listed as living with them, as were Henry Morton, age 18, an apprentice blacksmith, and Abram Lansbury, age 23, a blacksmith.17
Emma died on 7 Dec 1871.12 She was buried in Wesley Cemetery, Decatur Co., Indiana.13
