     He appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Halifax Co., VirginiaG, in the household of his parents, Fielding James Perkerson and Elizabeth Ann Flora.10
     William and his brother James appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Halifax Courthouse, Halifax Co., VirginiaG, enumerated 14 Jun 1860, in the household of A. J. Blankenship, a section master, and his wife. They and a third man listed there were shown as laborers.11
     William married Martha H. Guthrie, daughter of John Guthrie and Mary Anne New, on 27 Nov 1860 in Halifax Co., VirginiaG.3
     William died before 1900, probably before 1870 as his wife was living with her sister and her family by then, working as a domestic servant. William has not been found in any records after his marriage, but neither has a death record been found.7,8,9

Research Note:
It appears that Fielding's first wife died before 1900, as he is reported as a widower in the 1900 census. However in the record for his second marriage he is shown as divorced, and it is not uncommon for divorced persons to have been listed as widowed in census records. Still, no record of her has been found after the 1882 birth of her son so she may in fact have died.29,30
