John Quakenbush was born about 1825 in North CarolinaG.4,5,6
     He was probably the male under age 5 listed in the household of his father, Jonothan Quakenbush, in the 1830 Federal Census of Greene Co., IndianaG.11 He was probably the male age 10 to 15 listed in the household of his father in the 1840 Federal Census of Greene Co., IndianaG.12 He appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Highland Twp., Greene Co., IndianaG, in the household of his parents.2
     John married Permelia Jewel, daughter of John P. Jewel, on 1 Apr 1852 in Greene Co., IndianaG.7,8,9
     John and Permelia appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Highland Twp., Greene Co., IndianaG, enumerated 2 Jun 1860, reporting real estate valued at $1,000 and personal estate of $600. Their children Jonathan and Mary were listed as living with them.13
     John and Permelia appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Worthington, Greene Co., IndianaG, enumerated 2 Jul 1870, reporting real estate valued at $2,500 and personal estate of $500. Their children Jonathan, Mary, Martha, Alma, and Ella were listed as living with them.14
     John and Permelia appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Highland Twp., Greene Co., Indiana G, enumerated 1 Jun 1880. Their children Mary, Martha, and Alma were listed as living with them.9
     He was a blacksmith in 1850, and became a farmer by 1870.15,16,17,18
     John died on 11 Mar 1899 at age ~74.10 He was buried in Scottsdale, KansasG.10
