     William and Julia appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Pittsylvania Co., VirginiaG, enumerated 1 Sep 1860, reporting real estate valued at $8,170 and personal estate of $14,700, including 13 slaves. Their children George, William, David, Julia, and Mary were listed as living with them.2,8
     He was a tobacconist (a dealer in tobacco and the related accoutrements.)1,2
