Ione's date and place of birth is unknown. There is some evidence suggesting she was a twin of her sister
Irene, who was born 31 Jul 1836 in Kentucky, but she could have been been born after the family moved to Tennessee about 1837.
If she was born in Kentucky she moved to Stewart Co., Tennessee
G, with her parents about 1837.
3,4,5 She might have been one of the two females under age 5 listed in the household of her father,
Dr. Joshua Cobb, in the 1840 Federal Census of Stewart Co., Tennessee
G.
6 Ione died on 6 Sep 1841.
1 She was buried in Riverview Cemetery, Eddyville, Caldwell Co., Kentucky
G, in the Cobb family plot, with her mother,
Julia Ann Mims.
2 Research Note, 15 Sep 2011:
Ione may have been a twin of her sister
Irene. The only record found that clearly identifies Ione is the tombstone where she and her mother are buried, and that records only her date of death and the statement "youngest daughter of Dr. J & J A Cobb," suggesting she died an infant or was stillborn. But the 1840 census shows two females under age five in the household. One would have been Irene, but the other might have been Ione. The "matching" names is also suggestive of twins.
