     William married first Florence L. Theobald, daughter of Charles C. Theobald and Margaret Elizabeth Miller, about 1926.8
     William and Florence appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Peoria, Peoria Co., Illinois, at 204 Mount St. G, enumerated 3 Apr 1930, reporting they were renting their home, for $28 per month, and owned a radio. They were apparently renting from his parents, who were listed with their other children in the same building, shown as owners. Their children Billy and Arthur were listed as living with them.17
