Stanley Jennings Hough was born on 25 Nov 1919 in St. Paul, Ramsey Co., Minnesota
G.
4,5 Stanley was adopted before 1930 by Louise Rose Jennings, probably after the death of her husband in 1924. His birth parents have not been identified. Given Louise's age and the fact that she appears to have been widowed by then, it seems likely she undertook the adoption because he was the son of relatives who for some reason became unable to care for him. Stanley later reported both Louise and her husband, Frank F. Hough, as his parents but it seems likely that Frank had died before the adoption.
16 Stanley appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Seattle, King Co., Washington,
G in the household of his adoptive mother, Louise Rose Jennings.
17 His adoptive mother died on 29 May 1935, when Stanley was 15 years old.
18 Stanley was enlisted in the U.S. Army 10 Aug 1937, and was discharged 8 Nov 1945 with a rank of 1st Lieutenant.
19,20 Stanley appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Seattle, King Co., Washington, at 1627 Belmont
G, enumerated 13 Apr 1940, reporting he was renting his home, apparently an apartment in a building with over 30 units, for $18 per month. His father's sister, Carrie E. Hough, was listed in another apartment in the same building. He reported he has lived in the same city in 1935.
21 Stanley married first Berna Elvira Jolley on 8 Jun 1940 in Everett, Snohomish Co., Washington
G, with H. M. Jamieson officiating.
6 Stanley and Berna's son Gary died 9 Jun 1944, at age 3, after a fall from the second floor to the sidewalk below.
22 Stanley and Berna were divorced, by 1946 apparentyly, as he re-married in September of that year and she did the following November.
7,8 Stanley married second
Wilma Lucille Glabe, daughter of
Charles Edward Glabe and
Viola C. Wageman, on 4 Sep 1946.
9,10 They settled in Denver, Colorado
G, after their marriage.
He was a warehouseman at a wholesale hardware and sheetmetal company by 1950, reporting in the 1950 census he had worked 46 hours the prior week.
23 Stanley and Wilma appeared on the 1950 Federal Census of Englewood, Arapahoe Co., Colorado, at 4581 S. Pearl
G, enumerated 6 Apr 1950, reporting they lived in a home that was not on a farm.
24 Stanley and Wilma were were apparently divorced before 1960, as he re-married then. No record of a divorce has been found, but no mention of him was included in her obituary.
11,12 Stanley died on 21 Feb 1989 at age 69.
13,14 He was buried on 24 Feb 1989 in Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado
