Edward Louis Oetzel Jr was born on 16 Apr 1916 in Farmdale, IllinoisG.4,5,6
     He appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Washington, Tazewell Co., Illinois, G in the household of his parents, Edward Louis Oetzel and Mayme Louise Mooberry.14 He appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Morton, Tazewell Co., Illinois, G in the household of his parents.15
     Edward married first Freda Schmidgall, daughter of John F. Schmidgall and Lena P. Messer.7
     Edward and Freda appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Morton, Tazewell Co., Illinois G, enumerated 15 Apr 1940, reporting they owned a home valued at $3,500, and that they had lived in the same town in 1935.7
      Edward served in World War II.16,17
     He was a laborer at a tractor company in 1940. That year he reported he had worked 40 hours the last week of March, and 32 weeks the prior year, earning $835.18
     Edward and Freda were divorced before 1947 apparently, as she remarried in 1947 and he did in 1950.9,10,11
     He was a carpenter, building homes by 1950, reporting in the 1950 census he had worked 44 hours the prior week.19
