Life 30 Jun 1952, pg 116
Raymond served elected to the city council of Placentia
G in 1956. A year later he was elected mayor, serving until 1960, during a turbulent time as the city faced challenges from explosive growth. He also chaired the committee that managed moving his church to a new location.
26 After his move to Placentia
G he opened his studio, Pound Photographs, taking senior portraits for local high shools for many years along with photographing weddings and other events. In addition to his portrait work, he took a large number of "stock" photos using his children, relatives and neighbor's children, and animals he raised as subjects. They were sold to magazines and others through his agent for many years.
26,35,36 He also traveled throughout California taking rodeo pictures, getting in the ring with with bulls and broncos with his large-format Graflex camera to get the best photos. He developed the photos in a small travel trailer outfitted as a laboratory and sold them to the cowboys while still at the events. He was fond of telling about other photographers being amazed that he was using the type of camera he did, because the image he was viewing in the camera was reversed left to right, creating the danger that he would run the wrong way to escape a charging animal.
26,37 He semi-retired in the early 1990's, with his assitant taking charge of the studio.
26 Raymond died on 10 Aug 1998 in Placentia, California
G, at age 84, at his studio.
