Her father died on 10 Aug 1795, when Mary was 4 years old.12,13,14 She was probably one of the two females under age 10 listed in the household of her mother, Mary Willard, in the 1800 Federal Census of Pawlet, Rutland Co., VermontG.15
We do not know when Mary moved to Decatur Co., IndianaG, where she married. Her brothers Joshua and Willard had moved there as early as 1820, but she does not seem to be listed in the 1820 or 1830 census of either of them. (See map.)
Mary married Rev. John Butterfield on 18 Nov 1834 in Decatur Co., IndianaG, with Rev. W. M. Daily officiating.6,7
Mary and John settled at his home in Morgan Co. after their marriage. She was probably the female age 40 to 50 listed in the household of her husband, Rev. John Butterfield, in the 1840 Federal Census of Morgan Co., IndianaG. It appears her mother, Mary Willard, was also in the household.16

Elizabeth Lathrop1,2,3

ID# 2242, (1755/56 - )
Chart MembershipDescendants of Gideon Cobb

Key Events:

Birth: 26 Jan 1755/56, Newent, Connecticut,4,5
Marriage: 4 Mar 1777, Newent, Connecticut, Ebenezer Cobb (b. 16 Mar 1748/49, d. 1 Jul 1826)6,7

Narrative:

Elizabeth Lathrop was born on 26 Jan 1755/56 in Newent, ConnecticutG, which later became Lisbon.4,5
Elizabeth married Ebenezer Cobb, son of Gideon Cobb and Abigail Dyer, on 4 Mar 1777 in Newent, ConnecticutG, with Elisha Lathrop, Esq., the bride's uncle, officiating.6,7
Elizabeth and Ebenezer settled in Stillwater, Albany Co., New YorkG, after their marriage.
Elizabeth and Ebenezer moved from Stillwater to Pawlet, VermontG, by 1780, with their daughter, Clarcy.8,9,10 Elizabeth was probably one of the five females listed in the household of her husband, Ebenezer Cobb, in the 1790 Federal Census of Pawlet, Rutland Co., VermontG.11
Elizabeth and Ebenezer moved to Shelburne, VermontG, before 1800. She was probably the female over age 44 listed in the household of her husband in the 1800 Federal Census of Shelburne, Chittenden Co., VermontG.12
She was probably the female over age 45 listed in the household of her husband in the 1810 Federal Census of Shelburne, Chittenden Co., VermontG.13 She was probably the female over age 45 listed in the household of her husband in the 1820 Federal Census of Shelburne, Chittenden Co., VermontG.14
Her husband died on 1 Jul 1826 in Shelburne, Chittenden Co., VermontG.15,16,17
Elizabeth filed a request 3 Jul 1826 with the Chittenden DistrictG Probate Court to appoint their son Ebenezer as administrator for the estate of her late husband, Ebenezer Cobb, signing it with a mark.18
Research Note, 25 Feb 2010:
Ruth Hall in Descendants of Governor William Bradford shows Elizabeth died 31 Mar 1807 in Plymouth, Connecticut. But there is a female of the right age his wife in his household in the 1800, 1810, and 1820 censuses, and his widow Elizabeth petitioned the court regarding his estate in 1826. Unless his first wife died and remarried another woman named Elizabeth, Hall would seem to be in error. There is no record of her death in the Shelburne town records, where his is found.19
