Narrative:

John Jacob Reigle was born about 1846 in Pennsylvania.7,8,9 He consistently used his middle name, Jacob, in preference to his first name. He adopted the spelling Reigle for his surname as an adult, which was generally used by his descendants.1,14,15,3
He appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Turbut Twp., Northumberland Co., Pennsylvania, in the household of his parents, Jacob K. Riegel and Christiana Ohl.16
His father died on 13 Sep 1857, when Jacob was about 11 years old.17 Jacob appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Turbut Twp., Northumberland Co., Pennsylvania, in the household of Elias Schaeffer and his wife Elizabeth, neighbors of his family. They appear to be been living close to his parent's former home, as his younger sister Mary Catharine and their supposed uncle Charles Reigle who were living there are listed next.18
John married Olive Rogers, daughter of Jonathan Rogers and Margaret Orr.10,11
Jacob and Olive appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Dallas Twp., Luzerne Co., Pennsylvania, enumerated 12 Jun 1880. Their children Sarah, John, Margaret and Christie were listed as living with them.14
His wife died on 9 Feb 1881 in Luzerne Co., Pennsylvania.10,19
He was named an heir in the will of Christiana Ohl, his mother, dated 19 May 1891, but received nothing when she died because all the assets were used to settle debts.20
Jacob has not been found in the 1900 census, though he is presumed to have been living in Luzerne Co. He was not yet living with his daughter Sarah, where he died two years later.
John died on 1 Nov 1902 in Ketcham, Luzerne Co., Pennsylvania, at the home of his daughter.12,13
