Narrative:

Mary Cobb was born on 4 May 1808 in Warsaw, Wyoming Co., New York.6,7,8
Her father died on 2 Sep 1808, when Mary was an infant.16,17,18 She was probably one of the two females under age 10 listed in the household of her father, Esther Bennett, in the 1810 Federal Census of Orwell, Rutland Co., Vermont.19
Mary married Benjamin Cowles, son of Sylvester Cowles and Sarah Northrup, on 10 Feb 1830, with Rev. Joel Parker officating.9,10,11
She was probably the female age 30 to 40 listed in the household of her husband, Benjamin Cowles, in the 1840 Federal Census of Brighton, Monroe Co., New York.20
Mary and Benjamin appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Brighton, Monroe Co., New York, enumerated 17 Sep 1850, reporting real estate valued at $3,400. Their children Jane, Esther, Minerva, Norman, Henry and Roswell were listed as living with them, as were Sarah Northrop, age 91, apparently a relative of his mother, perhaps her step-mother, and Thomas English, a laborer.21
Her husband died on 22 Jan 1855.22,23
Mary appeared on the 1855 State Census of Brighton, Monroe Co., New York, enumerated 15 Jun 1855, reporting that they lived in a frame dwelling valued at $175, apparently a three-family building. Her children Jane, Norman, Henry and Roswell were listed as living with her. Her uncle Gideon Cobb, her father's brother, and his family were apparently living close by as they were listed as the next dwelling.24
Mary appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Brighton, Monroe Co., New York, enumerated 15 Nov 1860, reporting real estate valued at $5,000 and personal estate of $500. Her children Norman, Henry and Roswell were listed as living with her.25
Mary appeared on the 1865 State Census of Brighton, Monroe Co., New York, in the household of her son Norman and his wife, Frances [surname unknown].26 Mary appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Brighton, Monroe Co., New York, in the household of Norman and his wife.27 She appeared on the 1875 State Census of Brighton, Monroe Co., New York, in the household of Norman and his wife.28
Mary appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Albion, Orleans Co., New York, enumerated 18 Jun 1880, in the household of Jerome and Lydia Mason and their two children. She is identified as a aunt, but the actual relationship is unknown. Jerome or Lydia may have been a relative of her father or step-father, or of her husband.29
Mary died on 11 May 1897 in Jefferson, Ohio, at age 89, at the home of her son Norman.12,13,14 She was buried in Brighton Cemetery, Rochester, Monroe Co., New York.15

However, Livingston was not formed until 1823; before that the area known as Moscow, now in Leicester, was in Genesee Co. There are no Cobbs listed in Genesee Co. in the 1810 census, suggesting Philip Cobb's death date of 1808 is more likely correct.
