Narrative:
Melvilla Long was born about 1 Mar 1816 in Kentucky.5,6Her father died in Mar or Apr 1817, when Melvilla was about one year old.11 She was probably one of the three females under age 10 listed in the household of her mother, Sarah Graham, in the 1820 Federal Census of Caldwell Co., Kentucky.12
Melvilla married William Snow on 28 Jan 1836 in Sangamon Co., Illinois.7,4,8
On 9 May 1836 Melvilla and her sister Eliza and their husbands sold to their uncle Thomas Long their rights as heirs of their father in a tract on head of Spring Ck., "the proper boundaries not known to the parties," for $80.13
She was probably the female age 20 to 30 listed in the household of her husband, William Snow, in the 1840 Federal Census of Sangamon Co., Illinois.14 Melvilla and William were living in Sangamon Co., Illinois, when they made that sale.15
Melvilla and William appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Mill Creek, Jo Daviess Co., Illinois, enumerated 12 Oct 1850. Their children Eliza, Mary, Elizabeth, John, Annis, Ginner, Adeline and Jack were listed as living with them, as was Joseph Gates, age 77, relationship unknown.16
Melvilla died on 2 Jun 1855.9 She was buried in Weston Cemetery, Elizabeth, Jo Daviess Co., Illinois.10

Death dates have been found only for Mary Ann and Elizabeth. Marriage records have been found for Eliza, Annis and Adeline, but no further records. No further records identifiable as the other children have been found after they appeared with their father in the 1855 state census.
