Narrative:

Garrett Henry Keith was born on 11 Nov 1885 in Missouri.5,6,7
He appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Kansas City, Jackson Co., Missouri, in the household of his parents, Joseph S. Keith and Mary E. Garrett.2
Garrett was working as a clerk for Burnham, Hanna, Munger Dry Goods Co. by 1902, while he was still living with his parents. The following year he was a collector for First National Bank. He continued to appear in the Kansas City city directories until 1906, when he was working as a bookkeeper, and living at 915 Paseo.8
Garrett moved to San Francisco shortly after the 1906 earthquake and fire there. He appears on the 1907 city directory, listed as a bartender and living at 1565 Deviadero.9
He appears on the San Francisco voter registration lists for 1907, 1908, and 1910, listed as a clerk the first two years, and as a bartender the last year. His party affiliation seems to have been fluid, declining to state in 1907, then registered as a Democrat and finally as a Republican. He has not been found on the 1910 census in San Francisco or elsewhere.10
Garrett returned to Kansas City by 1914 and stayed long enough to appear in only the 1914 city directory, where he was shown as living at 1030 Summit, but with no occupation listed. He then found his way to New Jersey.11 He registered for the draft for World War I on 12 Sep 1918, while living at 2075 B Ave, Carneys Point, Salem Co., New Jersey, reporting he was employed as an operator for DuPont Co. there.1
He has not been found in the 1920 census. He returned to Kansas City by 1922, when he was working as a clerk for Central Coal & Coke Co., where he continued to work until about 1926.12,13
Before his death he became an inmate of the Jackson County Home for Aged and Infirm, Little Blue, Missouri, but just when is unknown. He has not been found in the 1930 census, either there or elsewhere.
Garrett died on 2 Apr 1931 in Jackson County Home, Little Blue, Jackson Co., Missouri, at age 45.3 He was buried on 6 Apr 1931 in Elmwood Cemetery, Kansas City, Jackson Co., Missouri.3
