Henry Scott Winn was born on 2 Feb 1888 in the Moduc community, Montgomery Co., Tennessee.8,9,10He appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Montgomery Co., Tennessee, in the household of his parents, Wiley Bayless Winn and Cornelia Edmundson.4
His mother died on 13 Dec 1903, when Henry was 15 years old.17
Henry attended local schools, then Southwestern Presbyterian University, on the site now occupied by Austin Peay State University, Clarksville. That school, after several name changes and reorganizations, moved to Memphis in 1925 and is now known as Rhodes College.6,18 He also took a business course at in Eastman Business College, Poughkeepsie, New York.6
Henry married Louise Gracey, daughter of Julien Frank Gracey and Minnie Irene Thomas, on 12 Jan 1911 in Montgomery Co., Tennessee, with Rev. John B. Cannon officiating.11,12,13
Henry registered for the draft for World War I on 7 Jun 1917, while living in Montgomery Co., Tennessee, reporting he was self-employed on his own farm near Ringgold.1
Henry and Louise appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Clarksville, Montgomery Co., Tennessee, at 725 Madison St., enumerated 6 Jan 1920, reporting they rented their home. Their daughter Hope was listed as living with them.19
Henry and Louise appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Clarksville, Montgomery Co., Tennessee, at 401 Franklin, enumerated 2 Apr 1930, reporting they rented their home, for $30 per month, and owned a radio. Their children Emily and Scott were listed as living with them.20
Henry and Louise were divorced before 1940.14,15,16
Henry appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Clarksville, Montgomery Co., Tennessee, at 732 Franklin St., enumerated 8 Apr 1940, as a lodger in the boarding house operated by Maude L. King. There were nine other lodgers, including two married couples, one with a child. He reported he had lived in Tennessee in 1935.21
He was a stock dealer, and a farmer by 1940, when he reported he had been out of work 64 weeks.22,23,24,25
Henry moved to Guthrie, Kentucky, after 1940, were he lived until his final illness required hospitalization.26,27
Henry died on 10 Nov 1942 in Madison College, Davidson Co., Tennessee, at age 54.5 He was buried on 11 Nov 1942 in Greenwood Cemetery, Clarksville, Montgomery Co., Tennessee.5
