Narrative:

     John P. Cumming was born on 22 Jan 1860 in Pennsylvania.10,11,12 He appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Bethalto, Madison Co., Illinois, in the household of his parents, James Proctor Cumming and Helen Hamilton Lee Pace.19 He appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Braceville, Grundy Co., Illinois, in the household of his parents.6
     John married Ann Clayton, daughter of Richard Clayton and Pamela Robinson, in 1886.13,14,15
     John and Ann appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of East Peoria, Tazewell Co., Illinois, enumerated 11 Jun 1900, reporting that they rented their home. Their daughter Pamela was listed as living with them.20
     John and Ann appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Fon du Lac Twp., Tazewell Co., Illinois, enumerated 15 Apr 1910, reporting they rented their home. Their daughter Pamela and her husband, Louis Oetzel, were listed as living with them, as were Ann's sister Emma and her son, Charles Hicks, age 34, a coal miner.21
     John appeared with his wife Ann on the 1930 Federal Census of East Peoria, Tazewell Co., Illinois, in the household of Pamela and Louis Oetzel, their daughter and her husband.22
     He was a coal miner by 1880, at age 20, and was still in that occupation in 1900. By 1910 he had become a well drilling contractor, and continued in that field the remainder of his working life.23,24,25,26
     John died on 25 Mar 1935 in Limestone, Peoria Co., Illinois, at age 75.16,10 He was buried on 27 Mar 1935 in Fon du Lac Cemetery, East Peoria, Tazewell Co., Illinois.17,18
