     Edward Louis Oetzel was born on 5 Apr 1885 in Morton, Tazewell Co., Illinois.8,9,10
     He appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Washington Twp., Tazewell Co., Illinois, in the household of his parents, Adam Oetzel and Caroline Glabe.5
     His father died on 13 Mar 1903, when Edward was 17 years old.17,18,19 Edward appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Washington Twp., Tazewell Co., Illinois, in the household of his mother.7
     Edward married Mayme Louise Mooberry, daughter of Louis Grant Mooberry and Louise Dora Voight, on 14 Feb 1912 in Peoria, Illinois.11,12,13
     Edward registered for the draft for World War I on 12 Sep 1918, while living at Washington, Tazewell Co., Illinois, reporting he was a self-employed farmer at the same location.20
     Edward and Mayme appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Washington, Tazewell Co., Illinois, enumerated 19 Jan 1920, reporting that they rented their home, apparently from his mother, who appears to have lived in the same building. Their son Edward was listed as living with them.4
     Edward and Mayme appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Morton, Tazewell Co., Illinois, at Freemont St., enumerated 4 Apr 1930, reporting they owned a home valued at $6,000 and owned a radio. Their children Edward and Lloyd were listed as living with them, as was her brother, Roy L. Mooberry.21
     Edward and Mayme appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Morton, Tazewell Co., Illinois, at 220 First St., enumerated 23 Apr 1940, reporting that they rented their home, for $18 per month, and that they had lived in the same house in 1935. Their son Lloyd was listed as living with them.22
     Edward registered for the draft for World War II on 27 Apr 1942, while living at 444 Bauman Ave., Morton, Tazewell Co., Illinois, reporting he was a self-employed in Morton.23
     He was listed as operator of a farm in 1910, at age 25, apparently the one previously operated by his father, and where his mother and younger siblings still lived. He continued to farm until at least 1920, but became a building contractor by 1930.24,25,26 He was a trucker by 1940, reporting he worked 60 hours the last week of March. In the 1950 census he reported he had worked 40 hours the prior week and 52 weeks in 1949, earning $2,800 in wages or salary in 1940.27,28
     Edward and Mayme appeared on the 1950 Federal Census of Morton, Tazewell Co., Illinois, at 444 Bauman, enumerated 7 Apr 1950, reporting they lived in a home that was not on a farm and they lived in a different house but the same county the year before. Their children Edward and Lloyd were listed as living with them, as were Lloyd's wife Dorothy J. Crumrine and their son John.29
     His wife died on 26 Jun 1959 in Morton, Tazewell Co., Illinois.30,31
     Edward died on 19 Mar 1978 at age 92.14,15 He was buried in Roberts Cemetery, Morton, Tazewell Co., Illinois, with his wife.16
