Narrative:

     Harold Walter Lyon was born on 3 Feb 1922 in Buckley, Iroquois Co., Illinois.9,10,11,12
     He appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Pigeon Grove Twp., Iroquois Co., Illinois, in the household of his parents, William Howard Lyon Jr. and Catherine H. Wilson.4 He appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Pigeon Grove Twp., Iroquois Co., Illinois, in the household of his parents.5
     He was as farm laborer at age 18, presumably on the family farm. On the 1940 census his father reported that Harold had worked 72 hours the last week of March.5 He registered for the draft for World War II on 30 Jun 1942, while living at Cissna Park, Iroquois Co., Illinois, reporting he was employed by E. J. & E. Railroad.3
     Harold was in the U.S. Army in World War II, enlisting 16 Sep 1942. He served with the railroad engineers in Europe with a rank of technician fourth grade.21,22,23
     Harold was discharged from the Army 17 Jan 1946.24
     Harold appeared on the 1950 Federal Census of Gary, Lake Co., Indiana, at 744 Virginia, enumerated 25 Aug 1950, reporting he lived in a home that was not on a farm.25
     He was a fireman at a railroad by 1950, reporting in the 1950 census he had worked 40 hours the prior week.26 Harold was later an engineer for the Elgin, Joliet and Eastern Railroad for 18 years, then drove a truck for Champaign Asphalt.27
     Harold married second LaVerda Caldwell Glabe, daughter of Henry Jacob Glabe and Nellie L. Caldwell, on 1 Nov 1957 in Crown Point, Lake Co., Indiana, with Harvey T. Minas, justice of the peace, officiating.13,14,15
     Harold and LaVerda moved to Savoy, Illinois, in Nov 1988 living there until their deaths.28
     Harold died on 18 Jan 2005 in Danville, Illinois, at age 82.16,17,18 He was buried in Glen Cemetery, Paxton, Ford Co., Illinois.19,20
