Mary Anapola Mims was born on 23 Sep 1844 in Eddyville, Caldwell Co., Kentucky.8,9,10
     Her father died on 11 Apr 1850, when Mary was 5 years old.16,17 She appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Caldwell Co., Kentucky, in the household of her mother, Caroline Hanson Cresap.18,19
     Mary appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Eddyville, Lyon Co., Kentucky, in the household of her sister, Eudorah and her husband, Matthew Martin Lyon.20,21
     Mary married William Walker Sublett, son of William Edzard Sublett and Mary Elizabeth Cook, on 28 Mar 1866.11,12,13
     Mary and William appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Montgomery, Montgomery Co, Alabama, enumerated 7 Jul 1870, reporting personal estate of $350. Their children Walter and Mary were listed as living with them.22
     Mary and William appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Montgomery, Montgomery Co, Alabama, enumerated 4 Jun 1880. Their children Walter, Mary, Caroline, Willena and Sarah were listed as living with them, as was Julia McAlkin, a 35-years old mulatto, who was most likely a servant.23
     Her husband died on 30 Oct 1892.24,25,26
     After the death of her husband, Mary's sister Victoria, also recently widowed, lived with her until Victoria committed suicide in the house in 1895. Unwilling to speak of the event, the formerly close relationship between the Machen and Sublette families was suspended for some 80 years before descendants re-established connections.27
     After her sister's death, Mary operated a boarding house in her red brick Queen Anne style home to keep income coming in. She was a genteel Southern lady trying to keep things going.28,29
     Mary appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Clinton, Hickman Co., Kentucky, enumerated 4 Jun 1900, reporting that she owned her home, mortgage free. Her children Sarah and James were listed as living with her, as were her mother, her married daughter Mary and her children, William, Cecil and Walter Haun.30
     Mary appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Clinton, Hickman Co., Kentucky, in the household of her daughter Caroline and her husband, Frediric G. Beeler.31 Mary appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Clinton, Hickman Co., Kentucky, in the household of her daughter Caroline and her husband.32
     Mary died on 25 Dec 1920 in Clinton, Hickman Co., Kentucky, at age 76.14,15 She was buried on 29 Dec 1920 in Clinton Cemetery, Clinton, Hickman Co., Kentucky.5
