     Shelby married Elizabeth G. Brose, daughter of William Joseph H. Brose and Edna Caroline Shaffer, on 19 Nov 1908 in Highland Co., Ohio, with Rev. G. D. Wilkin officiating.9,10
     He was a farmer by 1910.13,14
     Shelby and Elizabeth appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Clay Twp., Highland Co., Ohio, enumerated 25 Apr 1910, reporting they rented their farm.15
     Shelby and Elizabeth moved to Dayton before 1916. Shelby registered for the draft for World War I on 12 Sep 1918, while living at 154 Campbell, Dayton, Montgomery Co., Ohio, reporting he was employed as a conductor for People Railway Company in Dayton.3
     Shelby and Elizabeth appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Dayton, Montgomery Co., Ohio, at 154 Campbell St., enumerated 5 Jan 1920, reporting they rented their home. Their son Truman was listed as living with them, as was Orphie Martin, his 23-year-old nephew.16

     Shelby died on 14 May 1958 in Dayton, Montgomery Co., Ohio, at age 73.11 He was buried in Buford Cemetery, Buford, Highland Co., Ohio.12
