Narrative:

     Jessie Ruth Glabe was born on 21 May 1918 in Peoria, Illinois.9,10,11 She appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Peoria, Peoria Co., Illinois, in the household of her parents, William Frederick Glabe and Estella Pearl Watson.5
     Her mother died on 6 Nov 1924, when Jessie was 6 years old.16,17 Jessie appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Peoria, Peoria Co., Illinois, in the household of her father and stepmother, Marie Belle Neiphagen.6
     Jessie, her sister Carmen, and their step-mother Marie drove from Peoria to Pasadena to join her father who was working there at a cottage cheese business. After the business failed, they returned to Peoria where Jessie finished her nurse's training. Her parents meanwhile moved to Chico to operate a tractor dealership.18
     She was a nurse at Methodist Hospital in Peoria from about 1937 until about 1939, when she and her sister moved to Chico.19 When Jessie finished her training, she and Carmen went to Chico also. Jessie left a boyfriend in Peoria, and broke up with him after being in Chico a while.18 In 1942 she met her husband to be, a sergeant in the Army Air Corp stationed at the base in Chico, at a bowling alley.20,21
     Jessie married Raymond Lyons Pound, son of Earl Clifford Pound and Erna Myrtle Sacre, on 8 Nov 1942 in Chico, California.12,13
     After they were married, they lived in Chico during the War. In 1945 they were living at 379 E 2d Ave. Jessie was a nurse there, and attended in the births of Carmen's three sons, though Carmen recalls that Jessie almost missed Frank's birth (Jessie would have been pregnant about four months with her first child). Carmen recalls her husband Vernon and Jessie sitting in Carmen's hospital room and playing cards.18,22
     Jessie and Raymond moved to San Mateo, California by 1946, where they were living at 730 28th, staying there until 1948.23,24 They moved briefly to his mother's home in Brawley, staying long enough to be recorded in the 1949 city directory there, before moving Placentia, Orange Co., California, about the same year. They bought a house there at 114 Orange Grove Ave., where they lived the rest of their lives.25,26
     Jessie and Raymond appeared on the 1950 Federal Census of Placentia, Orange Co., California, at 114 Orange Grove, enumerated 4 Apr 1950, reporting they lived in a home that was not on a farm and they lived in the same house the year before. Their childrenwere listed as living with them.27
     Her husband died on 10 Aug 1998 in Placentia, California.28,29
     Jessie died on 27 Aug 2007 in Placentia, Orange Co., California, at age 89, after being hit by any automobile while walking to church.14,15
