Narrative:

George Weston Wadleigh was born in 1835 in Sanbornton, New Hampshire.7,8,9
He was probably the male age 5 to 10 listed in the household of his father, Simeon Hayes Wadleigh, in the 1840 Federal Census of Bristol, Grafton Co., New Hampshire.15
His father died on 1 Jan 1848, when George was about 13 years old.16,17
George appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Bristol, Grafton Co., New Hampshire, in the household of his mother, Jane Bartlett Sleeper.18
He drove horse-drawn vehicles, being described variously as coachman, teamster, and hack driver.19,20,21
George married Adelaide Remington, daughter of John Henry Remington and Betsey Mariah Stevens, on 11 Apr 1863 in Boston, Massachusetts, with Rev. A. A. Miner offciating.10,11
A couple listed on the 1865 State Census Boston, Suffolk Co., Massachusetts, enumerated 1 May 1865, may have been George and Adelaide. They are shown as boarding at a hotel operated by James C. Hill, with about 30 other guests. But there is reason to question whether it was them. The male is listed as George W. Wadleigh, age 32, born in New Hampshire, which would be correct, allowing for a two-year error in age. But his occupation is listed as clerk, while all other records show George as a coachman or teamster. The female is listed as age 19, which would be correct for her, but the name is shown only as "W" and birth place as New Hampshire, neither of which would be correct for her.22
George and Sophia were divorced, before 1869 apparently as she had resumed use of her maiden name by then.12,13,14
George appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Boston, Massachusetts, at Long Island Hospital, enumerated 30 Apr 1910, listed as an inmate.23
George died on 17 Oct 1910 in Long Island Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts, of phthisis (tuberculosis.)4 He was buried in Long Island Cemetery, Boston, Massachusetts.4
