Narrative:

     Jane V. Cunningham was born on 6 May 1848 in Dry Valley, Alabama.7,8,9
     She appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Talladega, Talladega Co., Alabama, in the household of her parents, Andrew Cunningham and Jane A. Venable.17 She appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Talladega Co., Alabama, in the household of her parents.18
     She appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Talladega Co., Alabama, in the household of her parents.19 She appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Talladega Co., Alabama, in the household of her parents.20
     Jane married Otis Cook, son of William Cook and Sophia Maria Cobb, on 7 Jun 1888 in Talladega Co., Alabama, at her father's home, with Rev. James M. McLean offciating.10,11,12
     Jane and Otis settled in Kentucky after their marriage, but they apparently spent considerable time Talladega. An Oct 1890 newspaper item reported they were "back in Talladega for the winter."21,22
     The partial settlement of her father's estate filed 4 Jan 1893 reported that Jane and four other heirs had each contributed $1,000 to the estate to settle debts. In addition, she had purchased land in Texas from the estate, for $3,000.23 After finding that her father's farm could not be equitably divided, the court ordered it to be sold for division of the proceeds. Jane was the high bidder at $5,000, so it was sold to her.24 The final settlement, filed 6 Nov 1893, reported that she was to receive $2,407 from the estate, her share after adjusting for funds her father had previously advanced to some of her siblings.25
     Jane and Otis seem to have moved full time to Talladega by 1892.26 They moved to Atlanta about 1893.27,28
     Jane and Otis returned to Talladega in the fall of 1897.29 They appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Talladega, Talladega Co., Alabama, enumerated 16 Jun 1900, reporting they rented their home. Anna Jones, a servant, was also listed in the househoold.30
     Jane and Otis appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Talladega, Talladega Co., Alabama, at 187 South St., enumerated 22 Apr 1910, reporting they owned their home, which was mortgaged.31
     Jane and Otis appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Talladega, Talladega Co., Alabama, at 189 South St., enumerated 5 Jan 1920, reporting they owned their home, free of mortgage.32
     Jane and Otis appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Talladega, Talladega Co., Alabama, at 183 South St., enumerated 7 Apr 1930, reporting they owned a home valued at $10,000, and did not own a radio.33
     Jane died on 30 Nov 1934, at her home on South St., Talladega, Alabama, at age 86.13,14,15 She was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Talladega, Talladega Co., Alabama.16
