Taylor and Margaret Catherwood.15 He appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Jackson Twp., Putnam Co., Indiana, in the household of his parents.16 He appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Jackson Twp., Putnam Co., Indiana, in the household of his parents.17
     James married Alice M. Cobb, daughter of Willard Burr Cobb and Submit S. Garlinghouse, on 15 Dec 1870 in Putnam Co., Indiana.9,10
     He was a farm laborer, likely on the family farm, in 1870, and a clerk in a store by 1880.18,19
