     John married Jane Elizabeth Thomas about 1834 in Charlotte Co., Virginia.6,7,8
     John appeared on the 1840 Federal Census of Charlotte Co., Virginia, with a household consisting of one male under age 5 (unknown), and one age 20 to 30 (himself), two females under age 5 (daughters Frances and Mary), one age 5 to 10 (Elizabeth), and one age 20 to 30 (wife Jane), and one age 70 to 80 (unknown). There were also eight slaves listed.9
     John and Jane appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Charlotte Co., Virginia, enumerated 27 Sep 1850. Their children Elizabeth, Frances, Mary, John, William and Ann were listed as living with them.1
     John and Jane moved to Halifax Co. before 1860.
     John and Jane appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Halifax Co., Virginia, enumerated 21 Aug 1860, reporting no real estate, but personal estate of $6,110. Their children Frances, Mary, John, William, Ann and Samuel were listed as living with them.10
     He was a planter.11,12
     No further record of either John or Jane has been found. It appears that both died before 1870, though no record of their deaths has been found either.
