     Warren Sargent Horton was born on 19 Nov 1878 in Alabama.8,9,10
     He appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Mobile, Mobile Co., Alabama, in the household of his parents, Franklin Shaw Horton and Amanda Coleman.4
     He was a bookkeeper at Peoples Bank in Mobile by 1897. By 1900 he was exchange teller and general bookkeeper there, and by 1904 receiving teller in 1897 in Mobile.18,19,20

     Warren served as a sergeant in company M, 2nd Alabama Volunteer Infantry, during the Spanish-American War. He enlisted 11 May 1898, and was discharged 31 Oct 1898. Company M was made up of Mobile cadets.21,22
     The regiment was initally assigned to the Fourth Army Corps at Mobile. It was then reassigned to the Second Brigade, First Division of Maj. Gen. Fitzhugh Lee’s Seventh Army Corps, and sent to Miami, Florida, where it arrived 30 Jun 1898. While it was there Santiago, Cuba fell to American forces, on July 17, 1898. The regiment was moved to Camp Cuba Libre, Jacksonville, Florida, arriving 5 Aug 1898. While it was there an armistice was reached with Spain. The unit was ordered to Montgomery, Alabama, arriving 17 Sep. The troops were given a 30-day furlough beginning 20 Sep, before being was mustered out 31 Oct.23
     Warren appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Mobile, Mobile Co., Alabama, in the household of his mother.7 His father was living at a boarding house in Brewton, Escambia Co., Alabama.24
     Warren married first Salome Vinson Wilkinson, daughter of William W. Wilkinson and Elizabeth Jane Vinson, on 24 Apr 1905 at the Methodist Church, Greenville, Butler Co., Alabama, with Rev. J. P. Hamilton officating.11,12,13
     Warren and Salome took a honeymoon trip to Havana, Cuba, after their marriage. They returned to Mobile abroad the S.S. Mobila on 7 May 1905, having departed Havana two days before.25,26 They settled in Mobile after their marriage, and continued to live in there until about 1909, when they were living at 250 St. Anthony. However his business seems to have taken him to other cities for extended periods, and at least part of the time she moved there with him.27,28

     Warren left banking and began working in insurance, apparently by 1907 when he began to relocate frequently.29 He and Salome lived in New York City for a time in 1907, and in Montgomery and then Birmingham in 1908.30,31,32
     Warren cannot be found in the 1910 census, but his wife was listed with her mother in Greenville, Alabama, in 1910. It appears she was living with her mother while he traveled elsewhere.33
     Warren and Salome moved to California in 1912 after he was transferred to an office in San Francisco. Over the next six years they lived also in Los Angeles and Oakland.34,35,36
     Warren and Salome moved back to New York City for a time.37 Warren registered for the draft for World War I on 12 Sep 1918, while living at 660 Riverside Dr., New York City, New York Co., New York, reporting he was employed as an assistant auditor at Fidelity & Casualty Co., 92 Liberty St., New York.3
     Shortly afterwards they returned to her home town, likely to deal with her mother's death in May 1919 and settle her affairs. Warren and Salome appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Greenville, Butler Co., Alabama, at 200 East Commerce, apparently her late mother's home, enumerated 9 Jan 1920., They reported that they owned the home, free of mortgage. Two sawmill workers, Walter and Edward Dodson, were listed as boarders in their home.38
     Later that year they moved to Atlanta again. By 1922 they were living in Columbus, Georgia.39,40

     Warren and Salome returned to California by 1924, when he registered to vote there.41 He continued to work in the insurance business after he moved to California. By 1930 he was an insurance claims adjuster, working for the Loyalty Group.42,43,44
     Warren applied for an invalid pension 4 Sep 1926, based on his service in the Spanish-Amerian war. The pension was approved.45
     His wife died on 24 Mar 1930 in Los Angeles Co., California.46
     Warren appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Los Angeles, Los Angeles Co., California, at 6711 Alta Loma Terrace, enumerated 3 Apr 1930, reporting he owned a home valued at $11,500, and owned a radio. John G. Bennett, a motion picture musician, was listed as living with him as a lodger.47
     Warren married second Linda M. James, daughter of Barclay Arney James and Bobella Cobb, about 1931.14 Warren and Linda lived at his home after their marriage.
     Warren died on 19 Oct 1932 in 6711 Alta Loma Terrace, Los Angeles, Los Angeles Co., California, at age 53, at his home.15,16 He was cremated and his remains were interred at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery Columbarium, Hollywood, Los Angeles Co., California, on 21 Oct 1932, with his first wife.17
